art intervention in public hospital

_the fundamental idea of the project is the belief that art and beauty have healing powers. We have gathered works from various Slovak creative minds who were inspired by this and were willing to lend or donate their creations to us.
_our common goal is to make a positive contribution to the healing and mental well-being of patients in public healthcare facilities. Hospitals, as important community spaces (and the fact that they are never empty of potential visitors), are ideal for introducing the transformative power of art to a new audience.
_a growing body of research shows that placing specific types of art in hospitals can expedite a patient's recovery process, while sterile walls can cause physical discomfort. Being surrounded by thoughtfully selected art can reduce stress, decrease the use of analgesics, and speed up recovery.
_the visual differences between the medical environment and the rest of the world – the contrast between the white, sterilized, muted environment, and the chaotic, vibrant, and lively world – are not necessarily beneficial for patients. Art is a means to dissolve these boundaries. It is a reminder of life beyond these spaces and all the commotion and opportunities that come with it. Art empathizes, soothes, evokes memories, and initiates conversations.
_the selection of works was based on three fundamental elements of the project: color, natural materials, and nature. Color is more than just design; it is a medium for creating space and emotions. Wood calms us and, along with other natural materials, evokes a sense of security ingrained in us since our earliest shelters. As a material, it has strong antimicrobial properties, making it a suitable choice for healthcare facilities. As for the last element, nature, it is often lacking contact with it in hospitals. Not everyone has a view of a forest or a lake, but appropriate works of art can evoke a similar feeling.

_la idea fundamental del proyecto es la creencia de que el arte y la belleza tienen poderes curativos. Hemos reunido obras de diversas mentes creativas eslovacas que se inspiraron en esta idea y estuvieron dispuestas a prestar o donar sus creaciones.
_nuestro objetivo común es hacer una contribución positiva a la curación y el bienestar mental de los pacientes en instalaciones de atención médica pública. Los hospitales, como espacios comunitarios importantes (y el hecho de que nunca están vacíos de posibles espectadores), son ideales para introducir el poder transformador del arte a una nueva audiencia.
_un creciente cuerpo de investigaciones muestra que colocar tipos específicos de arte en hospitales puede acelerar el proceso de recuperación de un paciente, mientras que las paredes estériles pueden causar incomodidad física. Estar rodeado de arte cuidadosamente seleccionado puede reducir el estrés, disminuir el uso de analgésicos y acelerar la recuperación.
_las diferencias visuales entre el entorno médico y el resto del mundo, el contraste entre el entorno blanco, esterilizado y apagado, y el mundo caótico, vibrante y lleno de vida, no son necesariamente beneficiosas para los pacientes. El arte es un medio para disolver estas barreras. Es un recordatorio de la vida más allá de estos espacios y de toda la agitación y oportunidades que conlleva. El arte empatiza, tranquiliza, evoca recuerdos e inicia conversaciones.
_la selección de obras se basó en tres elementos fundamentales del proyecto: el color, los materiales naturales y la naturaleza. El color es más que solo diseño; es un medio para crear espacio y emociones. La madera nos calma y, junto con otros materiales naturales, evoca una sensación de seguridad arraigada en nosotros desde nuestros refugios más tempranos. Como material, tiene fuertes propiedades antimicrobianas, lo que lo convierte en una opción adecuada para las instalaciones de atención médica. En cuanto al último elemento, la naturaleza, a menudo falta contacto con ella en los hospitales. No todos tienen una vista de un bosque o un lago, pero obras de arte apropiadas pueden evocar una sensación similar.

_we installed a wooden object in front of the main entrance of the hospital in order to activate and give a use to the exterior space as well, to create an excuse for people to gather and spent time in in front of the hospital while waiting or needing a break
